Bookkeeper /HR Generalist

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Bookkeeper / HR Generalist to join our team. This dual-role position will involve managing financial records and supporting human resources functions. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in bookkeeping and a solid understanding of HR practices.

HR Generalist

  • Aid managers with recruitment and onboarding.

  • Facilitate new hire orientations and the onboarding process.

  • Manage the HRIS system by entering data for new hires, changes, leaves of absence, and terminations, as well as maintaining accuracy for all employee records.

  • Manage payroll and benefits by reviewing and ensuring the accuracy of timecards prior to payroll processing, and answering related employee questions.

  • Administer and assist employees with E-Verify, I-9s, background checks, drug screens, and annual open enrollment for benefits.

  • Handle leave management (FMLA, STD, ADA, W/C) for the site, and assist the General Superintendent with leaves of absence and site injury reporting as needed.

  • Oversee and manage the job promotion and interview process.

  • Track, monitor and coach employees and supervisors on weekly attendance, and manage employee time off requests.

  • Ensure compliance with annual Safety and Health training, and ensure compliance with Chicago ordinances, state and federal regulations, as well as annual trainings.

  • Coordinate and facilitate employee meetings and engagement events.

  • Maintain proper record keeping and employee file maintenance, and update and maintain current job descriptions.

  • Serve as the first point of contact for employees with HR needs 

  • Assist with employee relations issues, including but not limited to counseling, coaching, and corrective actions.

  • Additional responsibilities may be added as required and business needs evolve

Bookkeeper

  • Manage and process accounts receivable, accounts payable, and payroll.

  • Reconcile bank statements and ensure accurate financial records.

  • Maintain general ledger entries, ensuring proper coding and classification of financial transactions

  • Oversee accounts payable and receivable, in addition to payroll processing.
